Tips For Choosing Your Baby Blanket Fabric

All Digital Threads® new baby designs can be embroidered on either woven cotton, fleece, chenille or plush minky dot fabric. Each of these materials makes a wonderful personalized baby blanket and each has it's own unique characteristics listed below.

Cotton Baby Blanket:

These are the classic keepsake baby blankets. This blanket is woven from 100% organic cotton, measures 48 inches by 35 inches and has a fringed edge all the way around. You can choose from three weave styles and each is offered in either white or unbleached natural cotton. The color of the natural blankets is light beige, similar to the color of sand. These baby blankets are woven in a subtle pattern of either hearts, stars or crosses and have a very three dimensional waffle like texture. Each cotton blanket weighs approximately 1.3 pounds and being made from 100% cotton they will last a lifetime and only get softer with age.

Plush Minky Dot Baby Blanket:

This is the favorite baby blanket with the staff here at Digital Threads®. Customers have described the feel as "like mink fur" or "soft rabbit fur". The blankets are made from an ultra soft micro fiber that is the softest fabric on the market today. The texture is further enhanced by a pattern of small, soft dots covering the entire blanket. This baby blanket is available in either pastel blue, pastel pink, pastel green, pastel yellow or snow white. Everyone working at Digital Threads® seems to send these to their family on the occasion of a new birth. The pastel green and pastel yellow are the favorite colors around here.

Chenille Baby Blanket:

Our chenille baby blankets are available in white, yellow, pastel pink, pastel blue and light sage green. The pastel blue chenille blanket is not as vibrant a color as the minky fabric, and is more of a dusty pastel blue. The pastel pink color is brighter pink than the minky dot baby blanket, which is more of a dusty pastel pink color. Chenille baby blankets are a woven blankets with stretch and give to the fabric. This blanket is lighter weight than the 100% cotton blanket and the two layer minky dot blanket.

Fleece Baby Blanket:

Fleece blankets are light weight, warm, breathable and long lasting. We offer multiple types of fleece blankets with different weights of fleece and different types of edging. Satin trimmed blankets are the most popular but whip stitch edging is also available. Plush micro fleece is made with lofty micro fleece fibers and is velvety soft. It is widely regarded as the baby material that's softest to the touch.
